Only just in our period, and early ones with that dreadful cable linkage for the five-speed 'box are best left alone. Hydrolastic suspension, front drive and a new OHC engine on east-west mounting. Substantially re-jigged in 1970, when 1750 variant introduced, this continued, with one further facelift, until 1981. A versatile, well-packaged and under-rated car - but alas it never received the development it deserved.
