Chevrolet
CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO

2-door 5-seater coupé/hardtop coupé.

Introduced as a 'personal luxury' V8 coupé (same marketing approach as Ford T-Bird_ on 116ins chassis and wheelbase of Chevelle, sharing many body panels with Chevelle and Caprice coupés. Historian Richard Langworth states that it had 'longest bonnet ever bolted on to a Chevrolet.' Packed with goodies and luxury fittings, but very mundane GM engineering under the skin, with wallowy handling. A kind of luxurious grey porridge car. Significantly restyled for '73, with more flowing lines. Down-sized for 1978, but that version not sold in Britain.
