2-door 4-seater saloon/coupé/estate.
Replacement for 55, on same wheelbase and basic body structure, but with new nose style and De Dion rather than swing axle rear suspension. 1108cc at first, but 1289cc option (all badged as 'Marathon') from autumn 1973. A worthy but boring car, for no ingenuity could over-excite the Variomatic, and handling was improved by this time. After Volvo takeover, evolved into Volvo 66 for 1976.
